Letting Go to Take Back on Day 9

It is helping me to stay focused on letting go to know I am getting back space in my house and life to do the things I need and want to do  Today my goal was to clear off my dresser and work some more in the closet.  The dresser is a surface that catches things that need to be put away.  When I get things cleared enough so "everything has a home" I hope I can make it a habit to put things away and not just set them down until later.  I know from experience that later is always longer coming than it should be.

This is after, but before dusting HA!

This is everything on top of my dresser-I know, hard to believe!

It's been a long time since I could use my sewing machine.  As I described yesterday, it sits on a special table in our master bedroom closet.  The table had become a dusty resting place for all kinds of unrelated items, a majority of which were clothing or laundry related.   I finally got things sorted, put away and thrown away enough by keeping in mind that I wanted to sit down and sew by late afternoon.  When I pulled up a chair and plugged in the machine, my first project was to mend a pair of Bo's pants.   It felt good, really good to be doing something that was old time familiar.  Just holding the thread took me back to teen, college age and young married years.  I stitched book covers, culottes, jumpers, tent dresses, birthday ties, bridesmaid dresses and a wedding gown.  Then came curtains, pillow cases,  little boy overalls, Christmas aprons, and crafts.  There was peace, and there was joy.  I want more of that, so I will continue with my 31 days of letting go.  In so doing, I take back the joy of doing what I really want to do.

Finally cleared enough to sit down and sew!
Sweet victory on Day 9 of Letting Go

  2. Decluttering feels so great, doesn't it?! Despite that photo of my dining room table, I actually have decuttered LOTS in the past few months (in an effort to get our house ready to sell). Now to just KEEP it that way...! :)
